While sifting through old family photos with my cousin Kay, we came across this unidentified wedding group. Neither of us recognized what was probably members of our family. It turns out they are….
The bride is Eva Broadhurst. Eva is the daughter of John Richard and Edith BROADHURST. Twenty-one-ish Eva married Leland Francis Wittenbeck in the Olivet Presbyterian Church in 1936, perhaps August based on newspaper clippings. The little flower girl is Shirley Broadhurst, Eva’s niece, the daughter of Harold and Emily BROADHURST. Ev’s cousin, Evelyn Davis, daughter of Violet Broadhurst was the Maid of Honor. Doris Wittenbeck was the Bridesmaid. I don’t which which is Evelyn or Doris in the picture. I don’t know the identity of the other three men in the picture but Clayton Buckingham was listed as the Best Man in the wedding announcement.
Just a few months earlier in January 1936, Eva had been party to A Deadly Family Outing in the Adirondacks.
