Harold BROADHURST and Emily COLLINS

Harold BROADHURST is the first son of John Richard BROADHURST and Edith Mary BAILEY and was born 06 February 1908 in Manchester, England. He first came to the US as an infant aboard the S.S. Canada sailing from Liverpool, England on 03 March 1910 and arriving 10 days later in Portland, Maine on 12 March 1910. Harold first lived in Lowell, MA then New York Mills, NY. He worked as a “cutter” for A. D. Julliard Company for many of the New York Mill years. He married Emily COLLINS, born 1909 in Rhode Island, about 1929. Harold and Emily had 2 children:

  1. Harold T Jr (b aft 1930 census)
  2. Shirley (b after 1930 census)

1930 Census. 18 Porter Street, New Hartford, NY was home in 1930 to Harold and Emily which they rented for $20/month. Harold was a cotton inspector at a cotton mill at the time. The couple indicated that they had been married for about one year at the time of the census: he was 20, she 19 at the time of their marriage.

Harold and Emily Deaths. 36 year old Harold passed away 30 November 1944 at home, 578 Main Street, New York Mills, NY. He is buried at the New Forest Hill Cemetery. (obituary, Utica Daily Press, date unknown, 1944). Emily passed away in 1990 (Waterville Times, 09 Jan, 1991 noting a burial for Mrs. Emily Broadhurst on 31 Dec 1990.) Emily is buried in the Saint Mary Cemetery in Clayville, Oneida County, NY. She was 81 years old.
