    • Also have great grandfather Wm Gordon Broadhurst, born in 1846 in Macclesfield. Married Ida Tapley and lived in Springfield, Mass. I am grandson of their son, Wendell Gordon B., who was their 4th child, I believe.

  1. My 4th Great Grandfather was a William Dawson born 1723 in Wincle. The family
stayed in the area until the 1880’s by then in the silk industry in Macclesfield.
We cannot trace the Dawson family name back before 1723 and I wondered
if the Richard Dawson, husbandman of Wincle in the 1652 entry above might
be his ancestor. I see he had a brother William. I’ve visited Wincle, Sutton
and Macclesfield to see the area. I live on the Wirral.
